Thank you for your interest in our Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten.  Our goal is to prepare an individual learning experience for each child.  Our environment creates an atmosphere where children love to learn.   The Montessori School of Pullman was established as a non-profit corporation in 1968.  It is conveniently located in Gladish Community Center and is open from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM daily.  We accept children 2 years-9 months to six years of age.  The ideal age for most children to start Montessori is 3 years old.  Children must be toilet trained.

Children attend school 5 days a week for three-, four-, five-, six-, seven- or up to 10 hours per day.  The $50 application fee is a one-time-only charge.

3-hour morning class:      8:30-11:30 AM

3-hour afternoon class:  12:30-3:30 PM

All-day Montessori:   8:30 AM to 3:30 PM

1-hour Lunch Bunch:        11:30-12:30

Before child care:       7:30 to 8:30 AM

After-care:                   3:30 to 5:30

Full-Day Montessori: 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

We will try to accommodate your child’s school hours to fit your schedule.  All classes are multi-aged and equipped for children from 3 to 6 years of age.

Because our program builds from one learning experience to the next, children benefit most by attending Montessori for at least two, preferably three, years.  Children may continue Montessori through their kindergarten year and then attend public school first grade.  Children may also attend Montessori and public kindergarten in the same day.

Our teachers are highly-experienced, certified Montessori instructors with BA or MA degrees.  We have French instruction three days a week, and music and rhythm activities every week with experienced, certified teachers.

Our children come with varied backgrounds and abilities.  Tuition-reduction scholarships are given based on need, and school employment is often available.  We strive to make Montessori affordable to every family.  Montessori is an equal opportunity program and no student shall be excluded on account of race, color, creed, religion, national origin or disability.  Montessori promotes a global perspective and welcomes children who are learning English. We also accept DSMS payments.

Enrollment is a commitment for a full school year, mid-August  through the end of May.  No refunds are made for missed days, illness, or withdrawal after March.  A 30-day notice is required for withdrawal refund before March.  Our school is a non-profit organization governed by a parent committee.  The school depends on the active support of all parents who share their talents and abilities to keep the tuition costs down and to make the school the best it can be.

Waiting List Policy
To get on our waiting list for future enrollment, please request a registration form by mail or e-mail.  The date we receive your completed form and a non-refundable $50 application fee will be your waiting list date.  We recommend getting your 1-1/2 or 2 year old child on our waiting list because it often takes a year or more for an opening to become available.

When we have an opening for your child, we will request a non-refundable deposit of $80 for half-day or $130 for all-day Montessori to secure the place.  This deposit will be applied to your first tuition payment.  An annual licensing fee of $15 for half-day or $30 for all-day Montessori will be paid with the first tuition payment.

Top Six Reasons to Choose
The Montessori School of Pullman

1: Child Centered Learning

The Montessori teachers design an effective, individual learning experience for each child age 2 years-9 months to 6 years of age. Our programs focus on the children, not the teacher. Our multi-aged classrooms are specially prepared to encourage each child to actively participate in his or her learning.

2: High-Quality, Experienced Staff

All lead teachers and the director have university degrees as well as Montessori teacher certification which includes a full year of Montessori classes and an internship, equivalent to a master’s degree.  Our highly-experienced teachers have been teaching Montessori for many years.  Staff turnover is very low.

3: Secure Learning Environment

Our primary consideration in the design of our programs, policies and facilities is your child’s safety and security. Our classrooms are luxuriously equipped with high-quality, educational, hands-on equipment and materials. In this nurturing environment, learning blossoms.

4: Fun With French and Music Magic

The children participate in French learning activities 3 times a week. Our Montessori French teacher introduces children to another language through songs, games, stories, puppets and plays. Music and body movement is a highlight of each week when our experienced music professional comes with drum, scarves, guitar and many instruments of music to lead the children in song, dance, rhythm and movement activities for an hour in each class.

5: Convenient Location

Located in Gladish Community and Cultural Center on Main Street just west of downtown, our school has large, brilliant daylight first-floor classrooms in this historic building dedicated to children’s services and the arts. Montessori children use a spacious, well-equipped outdoor playground and a full-sized gymnasium every day. Parking is plentiful. Two child care centers, a private school, dance and music studios, and the WA-ID Symphony hall are some of Montessori’s congenial neighbors. It is the one-stop center for family services.

6: Family Flexibility

The Montessori School operates on a 10-hour a day schedule from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Three-hour a day, 4-hour, 5-hour, 6-hour, 7-hour, 8-hour and 10-hour a day Montessori classes are available. We try to accommodate your child’s school hours to fit your schedule. Five year olds can do ½ day of Montessori kindergarten and ½ day of public kindergarten, with lunch at Montessori between sessions, to assist the transition in to public school. Before and after child care programs from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM are taught by Montessori teaching staff. Children can attend a child care center in the building or a dance or music studio in addition to their Montessori experience.

Come For A Visit!

Choosing a preschool or kindergarten is an important decision for your entire family. It is vital for the child that the school’s aims and those of the parents are in harmony. Before enrollment, parents and the administrator generally visit at length to share goals and priorities, and enjoy a tour of the facility together. Parents are welcome to watch the interaction in the classroom for as long and as often as they like. Arrange for a visit!
