This token is listed in Rulau's "Latin American Tokens," Yuc 237. It was issued by a company logging dye wood ("palo de tinte"). Rulau states that "only about 25 specimens have been offered publicly in the past 12 years" but I got mine from a dealer who seemed to have about a dozen (in various denominations) so more may have entered the market since 1992.
A set of six similar tokens (3 x 25, 3x 50, two vars of each) sold on eBay 2/22/02 for $36.
