Links to Token Organizations (information is correct to the best of my knowledge, but dues etc. are subject
to change. Please let me know if you spot any errors)
- AVA The American
Vecturist Association (transportation tokens). The AVA publishes the Atwood
catalog of US transportation tokens, which is a must-have for anyone interested
in these tokens. Joining the AVA is a great way to make trading contacts,
and not just for transportation tokens. Dues: $20 in USA, $25 in Canada, $30
in the rest of the world.
- NTCA The National Token Collectors
Association (was NATCA) web page, focuses on trade tokens, but also covers
other tokens. A good way to meet collectors of all types of tokens. NATCA
dues are $30/year (more outside USA). "Talkin' Tokens" is published monthly.
- TAMS the Token and Medal Society.
Probably focuses on older and trade tokens. This web page is new, but you
can print a membership form and order books (TAMS publishes several books
on tokens). TAMS dues are $25/year ($30 outside USA). The TAMS Maverick
database is in the process of being put on the web! Still in process,
but a lot of tokens are listed.
- Magic Token
Society
- Numismatic Bibliomania Society -
devoted to numismatic literature. Not specifically about tokens, but a great
resource. $15/year, quarterly journal.
- The International Telephone Token Association, dedicated to help world wide
collectors. It works informally, only via E-Mail. Please contact: Jose Luis
Rubio at RUBIOJL@ADINET.COM.UY
- Condor Tokens Collector's
Club During the latter part of the 18th century a severe shortage of
"small change", existed in England due to obsolete equipment and a lack of
interest by Parliament. Hundreds of tradesmen, shopkeepers and manufacturers
issuing pennies and half penny tokens to facilitate trade.
- Civil War Token Society
Information about the society, plus some information about Civil War Tokens.
- The Tasmanian Numismatic
Society Check out their newsletter archive! Article about Canadian Blacksmith
